Blame it on Rio was an unraced TB gelding who competed successfully in the 1990’s with Rebecca Gibson. Throughout his career he was trained by Jeff Ayers, Jerry Zero and Robert Collucio.  Rebecca competed him 1994-1999 in Children’s Hunters, Large Junior Hunters and finally in the A/O Hunters.  In 1997 he was champion EPPHA & PHSA and reserve champion in Zone 2 for Large Junior Hunter.  Qualified and competed in the Large Juniors at Devon, Harrisburg and Washington and also did the A/O’s at Devon.  Rebecca says a highlight was winning the Large Junior and Overall Junior Hunter Stake at the 1997 Washington International Horse Show as well as also winning a 5th place ribbon there.  “Rio” was sold in the summer of 1998 and went on to compete successfully at Old Salem, Lake Placid and the Winter Equestrian Festival among other top venues.
