PHSA Board Meeting
Meeting Minutes
Date: September 27, 2004
Attending: Bob Daly, Diane Daly, Sue Hansen, Cheryll Francella, Barbara Miller, Gaye Goldeman, Doris MacDonald, John Mastriano, Audrey Winzinger, Rich Scarlett.
Absent: Cheryle Francis, Diane Boram.
Breeding Committee
In 2004 there were:
Breeding Members: 144
Breeding Horses Registered: 82
Breeding Ponies Registered: 32
Farms Registered: 105
Transfers: 5
Banquet
Cheryll Francella volunteered to be the seating coordinator. Doris will contact the champions in the breeding divisions and have them send or email their photos to Audrey. The performance champions will be contacted closer to year-end. Discussion about the potential live auction items & converting the live auction to a raffle. Discussion about the possible PHBA trophy recipient. Audrey sent out letters requesting that 2003 trophy winners return their trophies to Diane Daly, those letters included sponsorship request sheets. Audrey will send out sponsor requests to the usual list.
There are 3 new Penna. Bred pony breeding classes in 2004. There are no trophies for this division; although there are many horse breeding classes and some performance divisions that are without trophies. There are also 8 existing trophies that will need to be replaced due to bad condition or lack of engraving room. The PHSA board will be purchasing trophies to replace those being retired and in some cases to give trophies to those divisions/classes without them. Trophy naming rights are available for $500.00 per trophy.
Bob & Diane would like to donate a sportsmanship award in honor or Ray Gambone. The format for choosing a winner is still in the works and will be announced at the banquet.
Open Forums
It was decided that since the last few open forums were so poorly attended, despite the board’s efforts to advertise them and hold them in various locations accessible to all, that the open forum series will be discontinued due to lack of interest.
USHJA
The board decided that it was in the best interest of the PHSA membership for PHSA to join USHJA as an affiliate.
Horse Show of the Year
Jennifer Batchelor had submitted a rather detailed list of criteria for choosing a PHSA show of the year. Sue will contact Jennifer & work with her to refine the list & potentially implement the award for 2005.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 PM.
